Last Store on Main Street - Oppose Wine Sales In Grocery Stores
Governor Patterson has once again proposed the legalization of wine sales in grocery stores as a way to
balance the NY budget. Allowing wine sales by grocery and package stores as well as gas stations is simply a
bad idea! It will, among other things, put our retailer partners out of business and erode the safety
precautions that are currently in place for selling alcoholic beverage to minors.
Empire Merchants will continue to fight against this legislation, but we need your help! We urge each and every one of you (and everyone you
know) to contact Governor Patterson and your State Legislators to let them know you oppose the sale of wine in grocery stores.
